The School Liaison Officer (SLO) - Your Partner for School Success

Your SLO helps your Family navigate school transitions, providing expert guidance on education options, registration, and local policies. That makes school moves easier and less stressful – and improves education outcomes.

Your SLO can help in plenty of ways, like these:

Getting Ready to Move

  • Provide information about schools and educational options at your new duty station
  • Connect your child with a youth sponsor to answer questions about their new school or community
  • Help with the steps to withdraw your children from their current school

Once You Arrive

  •  Give information about local schools and how to enroll
  • Advise about the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children and other compliance issues
  • Facilitate communication between you and the school
  • Connect you with homeschool co-ops or support groups

During Your Assignment

  •  Answer questions about schools, homeschooling, special education, scholarships, and more.
  • Conduct parent education on college readiness, school transitions, and the Interstate Compact.
